Can Blu-ray or HD-DVD catch on?

Now that the two formats are outside, and some reviews came on both, I started to really think that it could not be a question whose the format will beat out of the other, but if one or the other format can become traditional. I started to think of the challenges which it takes up, and here I proposed during a discussion I had has with a friend. 1) what the pier with open-type screen is it him? I know so that the difference between 780p, 1080i, and 1080p - you probably also make, but made the average consumer - well, not that I spoke. All the average consumer wants is something which is convenient, easy to employ, and which they can include/understand most of the time. But a Blue-ray or the disc of HD-DVD resembles to a DVD, obtains inserted in something which resembles to a player of DVD, however in costs a pier into open-type screen of much more. I think that people have a hard arrangement of time with the Juste what is the pier with open-type screen it. 2) step a jump ahead. In 1982 when CDs were released - they were a jump ahead. In 1997, DVDs were released - they were a jump ahead as well. You more had not to rewind film when you were made viewing - and the skies were delighted. The DVD and the VHS do not look at anything in the same way. You can see the improvement of visual quality and hear better acoustics on a regular TV with regular surrounding the noise. Blue-ray and HD-DVD which I really do not see as being a jump ahead. They resemble DVDs. The average consumer could not probably make the difference on a TV reguar - they should buy the entirely new equipment. 3) Expensive Equipment. The cost of the equipment is enourmous. I am know that we always speak about the devices of generation here, but of televisions 1080p which can benefit fully from the new cost formats as far as the luxury cars. And the audio equipment of high definition is hardly a fall in the bucket. This technology is out of the extension of the majority of the households - even without payments, no interest during one year is occupied. One device which I see that the advantage of is the fact that these formats contain many data - 25gb for the Blue-ray (50gb coming outside in October) and 30gb for HD-DVD. Thus these devices can be very useful to support great quantities of data. the Blue-ray and the HD-DVD can never do it on the traditional market at the house of theatre, but I see them becoming a common order on a computer to burn great quantities of data to the disc.
