Well, I just upgraded to Power DVD 10 Ultra 3D from Power DVD 9 Ultra when I noticed that my Golden Eye DVD immediately looked entirely different than it did in Power DVD 8. All of the sudden 99.9% of the motion judder was gone and panning from left to right was so smooth and fast that I almost laughed out loud. Projectors with high tech interpolation cost thousands and what I'm seeing here looks like the real deal that you might see in very high end projectors. For Cyberlink I salute them for giving us the power to use our PCs, mine is fueled by an I7 920, for what might cost thousands elsewhere. I heartily suggest everybody who is sick of motion judder to get Power DVD 9 Ultra and change the way you think of Home Theater. Sure some "film" purest might not like this new technology but for me it makes watching movies way more enjoyable.
The software really works well in Vista but I'm having quite a bit of trouble getting XP to function so I would say that for Vista users it is a no brainer but XP users should be more wary. Anyhow, we finally have a good reason to go the HTPC route instead of standalone units.
2 So far, so good
Running this on a home theater PC platform, playing Blu-Ray content through an ATI HD2600 XT graphics card, thus far without incident. Software updates were available, and were necessary in my particular case. No difficulties were experienced in the updating process, however.
Had some limited experience with the earlier PowerDVD 9 Ultra, which seemed fine for "classic" BD discs, but sometimes struggled with recent titles. In all fairness to CyberLink, I believe these difficulties are related to the either the "special features" that studios feel compelled to roll into a given disc's content, or various, evolving DRM schemes. Would buy again.
